Greyt Tribute

Rainbow BridgeWhen a greyhound is welcomed into our home, they become a member of the family.  When they leave this life, we mourn them as one of our own.  This page is a tribute to those special members of our family who touched our lives, shared our souls, and commandeered our couches.

If one of these hounds were near and dear to your heart, please consider making a memorial donation in their name.  All proceeds go to help future hounds race to their forever home.

To have your loved greyhound posted here, send an e-mail with photo and story to tribute@greyhoundadoption.com.

A Tribute To: Crystal

Crystal
1998-2009
Loved by Michael & Stephanie Inderwiesen

I will never forget the day we went to get Crystal.  My wife and I drove to  meet the foster family that Crystal was with, the foster mom warned me that she was a little nervous around men.  As soon as I walked into the back yard I saw a group of Greyhounds just playing, without a moments hesitation Crystal came up and stood on her hind legs and put her paws on my shoulders, at that moment I knew she was mine.

1999-2007 and 2008
Loved by Jessica

These beautiful littermate sisters raced into my heart in 2002.  The joy, love, and gentleness they brought with them forever changed my life.  While we may wish to keep our greyhound family members with us forever, they are angels on loan and eventually leave us.

Dodge (Ico Dodge)
1997-2009
Loved by the Lewis Family

The first day I saw Dodge, he was on a walk with his foster, Ray.  I knew immediately that he was a special guy, and the way he looked over at me, I think we both knew it was meant to be.  We adopted our baby on September 15, 2003, at the age of almost 6.

Edith (Jazz Artist)
1995-2009
Loved by Jenny Biekert and Jim Warner

Edith lived to be 13 1/2.  A shy, seemingly unassuming girl, Edith followed the rules, minded her manners, and didn't hesitate to teach naughty puppies how to mind theirs.  She was enthusiastic about her walks and killing squeakers.  She went out of her way to make all things easy for us.

Elaina
1994-2008
Loved by Jim and Evelyn Soule

It is with a great deal of sadness that we must report the passing of Elaina on December 10, 2008. She was about 14 1/2 years old and was suffering from the grave effects of acute renal failure. She went peacefully at the Dumb Friends League of Denver where we made a contribution in her name.

Loved by Jody and Russ Laughlin

This Wednesday, after ten years, we lost our boy Frodo. We have had Frodo longer than any of our other greyhounds. He was in many ways, our boy's dog, and a friend that we had raised since he was a puppy. He leaves a big hole in our pack and in our family.

Georgia (Little Honker)
1995-2008
Loved by the Weber Family

One day in July, a beautiful brindle greyhound showed up at our house.  She had no tags, so we contacted the Humane Society.  I waited to hear her family had come to get her but they did not, so we adopted her.  Her racing name was Little Honker, but her name was Georgia.

Gidget (Bs Gidget)
2002-2009
Loved by the Beiser Family

Everyone loved Gidget. She was so sweet and innocent, as if she would never understand her little world.  She came to us full of terrible scars, with little fur on her belly or hindquarters, and scared of EVERYTHING.

Ginger

Loved by the Coke Family

One of the best things about coming home after a long day at work was being greeted at the door by our beloved Ginger. She was not the kind of girl to just meet us at the door—she taught herself to open the door!  She was smart and sassy, just the kind of girl for us.

Loved by Becky and Tom

Goose is the name of my dog.  He is my friend.  I miss him.  Only this year he would jump up to greet me, he licked my face, he pushed his body into me sideways for me to wrap my arms around him for a hug and for me to rub his head.
